RegisterGuns 1920x1080 2

In North Carolina, there is no requirement for registering handguns or long guns and there has been no change in the state regarding registration of firearms since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

However, it is a good idea to keep records on your firearms in a safe place, in case they are lost, stolen, or damaged in a fire. The information you should keep about your guns includes the following:

  • Make;
  • Model; and
  • Serial number.

That way, if your guns turn up missing, you can give detailed information about them to the police and/or your insurance company. Also, if someone steals your gun and pawns it, there is a good chance of its recovery and return to you.
